BCG Growth-Share Matrix

Framework · Strategic analysis · visibility-adapted

Stars, cash cows, question marks, dogs — adapted here to visibility, not revenue.

What it is

The classic BCG matrix plots products by market growth and relative market share. It needs real revenue and share data to be honest.

How Magrios runs it on evidence

Because inventing revenue figures would break our evidence rule, Magrios offers a VISIBILITY BCG: plot each topic cluster by how fast buyer interest is moving against your share of voice in it. Stars are fast-moving clusters you already win; question marks are fast-moving clusters where you are absent. Revenue-based BCG stays an editable template you populate with your own numbers.

Adapted for the visibility market: this framework measures question volume, share of voice, and citation coverage — real, sourced counts — rather than fabricated revenue.

How to build it

  1. Plot topic clusters by buyer-question momentum (x) and your share of voice (y).
  2. Label the four quadrants for visibility, not revenue.
  3. Fund question marks with the strongest evidence of demand.
